After the happenings of the first part, Chennai 600 028, the Shark team has dismantled and each member of the team are busy with their lives. But the team's key members, Shiva, Nithin Sathya, Vijay Vasanth, Ajay Raj, Jai and Premgi are still the closest of friends among which all are married sans Jai and Premgi.

Jai falls in love with Sana Althaf and after getting the green signal from the parents, the couple decide to tie the knot at Theni, the bride's hometown. Hence, Jai reached Theni along with his friends. The team stumbles upon their old friend Arvind Akash in a tussle. That's when they get to know that Arvind is in a trouble because of a Cricket match against the local team headed by Vaibhav. Consequences of this struggle puts Jai's wedding in jeopardy and the team are forced to put on their Cricket tees, this time to save more than their team name. Whether the team wins and if Jai gets hold of his lady love forms the crux of this flick.

Just like the first part, Venkat Prabhu has taken this film too in a fun and frolic manner. His formula with Cricket, friendship, sportsmanship, love and comedy has worked once again. Except Premgi, all the stars have a pair and despite adding more characters, each one have been given good screen space.

With Jai given a tad more importance, he has carried the responsibility well. This film can be called Shiva's re-entry film and he has brought the roof down with his comedy. Vaibhav with a character consisting of grey shades has fitted perfectly in the role with menacing mannerisms and costume. Premgi is at his usual best and helps in moving the story without getting bored at any point. Manisha Yadhav sizzles in the 'Soppanasundari' track and Badava Gopi's comedy works big time just like his role from the first part. The rest of them have carried out their roles to the T.

Yuvan Shankar Raja always goes an extra mile for Venkat Prabhu and it's evident with this album too. 'Soppanasundari' and 'Varom Sollu Thalli Nillu' are already chart-busters. Rajesh Yadhav's cinematography has captured the beauty of Chennai and the greenery of Theni in an eye-popping manner.

Overall, Chennai 600028: II Innings will win the game in style.
