Rajinikanth has been in and out of the hospital since the summer of 2011. He was also admitted in Singapore for six weeks for kidney-related ailments and respiratory infection. He was shifted to the Singapore hospital after being advised by doctors following a checkup in Chennai the same year.
On the other hand, reports have been doing the rounds that Rajinikanth, whose political entry is being widely discussed, is keen on discussing his political career with his friend and actor Amitabh Bachchan. The 73-year-old National award-winning actor took a break from acting in 1984 to enter politics in support of a long-time family friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He contested Allahabad’s seat and won by a huge margin. His political career, however, was short-lived as he resigned after three years.
Rajinikanth has completed the first schedule of his upcoming Tamil film Kaala and will join the sets in Chennai next month. The film reunites Rajinikanth and Kabali director Pa. Ranjith. The film, which also stars Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil, Pankaj Tripathi, Samuthirakani and Sakshi Agarwal and is being bankrolled by actor-producer Dhanush. His other film, the sci-fi action thriller 2.0 under Shankar's direction featuring Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson with a musical score by A. R. Rahman produced by Lyca Productions is in its post-production stages and will hit screens on January 25, 2018.
