Surviva, the first single from Ajith’s upcoming film 'Vivegam', which released few days back, has been going viral across all social media platforms.
The Malaysian rapper last worked in Aadukalam, seven years ago. Speaking about the sabbatical, Yogi B says, "I had health-related issues and my career had taken a backseat. There was also a point when I wondered if I would ever make a comeback,". However, his song in Vivegam has been welcomed with a rousing reception, particularly by Ajith’s fans, and the rapper also became the point of conversation on social media.
"My previous hits Madai Thirandhu, Indian Girls and Happy New Year in Vijay’s Kuruvi went on to become hits at a time when social media wasn’t that popular. This is my first release in the social media era and I am pleasantly surprised by the reception," he added.
Yogi B said Ajith’s journey to the top of the ladder was constantly in his mind while penning the lyrics for "Surviva"."He has created a unique position that no one else can take. The loyalty of his fans is unparalleled. The movie too had similar requirements and I had to keep all these intact for the lyrics. We have made the song in EDM Hip Hop. Anirudh liked the idea too,"he said.
Meanwhile, Yogi B is also working on his album Mantrahood, which will release next year. "That is another experimental album. We still have a few work left to be done. I have collaborated with Dr Burn for this and I am excited about it," he added.
Over the years, there have been several rappers who have made inroads in the mainstream music scene. However, Yogi B said he only aims to compete with musical geniuses like A. R. Rahman or the current generation of music composers like HipHop Tamizha. "It is this healthy competition and the need to constantly reinvent myself that has helped me become whatever I am today," he concluded.
iFlicks wishes more such success to Yogi B in his future collaborations and endeavors.
