Actor Krishna talks about 'Vizhithiru' which is finally set to hit the screens after languishing in post-production for three years, his other releases, and his excitement on joining the sets of 'Maari 2'.
It’s been a good year for Actor Krishna, who is one of the most under-rated actor in the industry. But now, both his releases Yaakai and Pandigai received positive response from the audience and critics. The actor says that his upcoming films, Vizhithiru, Grahanam and Veera too will be strong in content.
“I am happy that Vizhithiru will finally hit the screens this month. It is about four different characters portraying four different emotions at different stages of their lives. There is love, comedy and action revolving around Dhansika, Viddharth, Abinaya, Baby Sara and me. Had the movie got released three years ago, it would have gone on to become a trendsetter of sorts. However, the script isn’t time-bound and will still strike a chord with the audience,” he says.
His film Grahanam is also all set to release soon. “It is a never-seen-before story on celluloid. The movie is about incidents that happen in two minutes and we have narrated them in various sequences,” says the actor.
Krishna, who has done quite a few experimental films, says he will continue to do so. However, he adds, “I don’t consciously approach these scripts. It’s just that most films that come to me are different and directors who want to experiment know that I’ll be up for it,” he adds.
The posters and the cast of his upcoming film Veera have already created a huge anticipation on social media. “The story revolves around those characterisations which are well-etched by writer Baakiyam Sankar. Each character in the film portrays various facets of north Chennai. Sankar himself is from north Chennai and helped me out with the accent and body language while we shot for the film,” he adds.
Talking about his role in the film, he says, “This is about a boy’s dream of leading a notorious gang in the neighbourhood. What he does in pursuit of that forms the crux of the story. I play a character called Veeramuthu, while Karunakaran plays Pacchamuthu.”
The actor is also working on another film Kalari, for which he trained in Kalaripayattu. It will hit the screens in a few months. Krishna will be seen playing the lead role in Maari 2 alongside Dhanush. “Balaji Mohan approached me and asked me to go through the script of Maari 2 . After reading the script, I was excited to be a part of it. We start shooting from December,” he reveals.
On a concluding note, he says, “There is another movie which is a surprise package. Wait for the announcement!”
