An interesting script filled with satire along with an equally talented cast.
News about the upcoming Itly has been doing the rounds on social media over the past few days owing to its intriguing title. Speaking about the title, the director of the film, Vidhyadharan, told us, “The story revolves around three women characters named Inba, Twinkle and Lily played by Saranya, Urvashi and Kovai Sarala irrespectively. That is why we have named the film Itly.”
Giving more insight into the film, he said, “We have come across quite a few movies based on bank robbery in Tamil. However, Itly will have these three women looting a bank. When I first narrated the script to Saranya, she had doubts if she could pull the role off. However, she fitted into the character like a glove once she had a fair idea of her role. Kovai Sarala will be seen doing comic scenes along with Manobala. The movie will have situation comedies.”
The film is also the last film of Urvashi’s late sister Kalpana. “She plays a character with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). We completed 90 per cent of the film before she passed away and have incorporated CGI in rest of the portions,” said Vidhyadharan.
There was a lot of apprehension while penning the script, said the director. “I wondered if the movie would work out as it has women pointing guns and involved in a robbery. But the film has a social message as well. Unlike most women-oriented films, at no point in time, we have shown men in bad light,” he added.
Itly, which is all set to release in the first week of November has no songs in it. “It is a very tight script which will keep the audience engrossed for two hours and 14 minutes. Earlier, there have been films which succeeded only with good scripts. Itly too will be one among them,” he said.
