Hansika is busy shuttling between Mumbai and Chennai for the promotions of Gulebhagavali, which has Prabhudheva playing the male lead, but at the same spares some time to talk to us. This will be her first release after Bogan, which released in February last year. “I’m excited to have yet another Pongal release post Bogan. Things have been positive so far as the trailer and songs have been received well by the audience. Gulebhagavali will be a proper festival entertainer,” she begins.
The actress says that her role in the film is special for her for a lot of reasons. “I play a thief. A thief, who is crooked yet funny and playful. My role will be known for the kind of mischiefs I do. I thoroughly enjoyed playing it. There have been actors, who have played thieves before but this will be different. Being a commercial comic entertainer, you will know the connect it has to the storyline.”
Hansika previously was a part of Prabhudheva’s directorial in Engeyum Kaadhal and his production venture Bogan. She says as a co-star in Gulebhagavali, he is such a chilled-out person. “As a director, he makes you deliver exactly what he wants. He is a taskmaster. As a producer, he is easy-going. But when I shared the screen pace with him, I understood what fun he could be. He suggests improvisation and gives his co-stars a good amount of screen space,” she adds.
The actress looks back at her 10-year career and says that she has always believed in what she does. “I’m a very positive person. If my film doesn’t do well, I take the positives from that and push myself to do better in my next. Every day in any industry is a learning process. As far as my career is concerned, I keep learning with every movie and I go with the flow. I don’t plan my career as such,” says Hansika. “It is hard work and dedication that will make one a winner. I’m not saying this out of confidence or arrogance. Any field or industry needs this and cinema is not an exception,” she adds.
Talking about her upcoming projects, she says, “I have signed a movie with Atharvaa and another film with Vikram Prabhu. I will be making further announcements in the coming days.”
