Justice for Cauvery issue has been the talk of the town as various protests took place across the city for it. The most controversial one was the chaos which broke loose in front of Chepauk stadium, while CSK vs KKR match was about to begin. The protesters wanted to cancel all the matches until they found justice.
However, the protest which was lead by ace celebrities like Bharathiraja, Ameer, Seeman and politicians, took an ugly turn. Now, the BCCI has declared that further matches that were scheduled to take place in Chennai will from onwards happen at Pune. On that note, many celebrities took it to their social media spaces to share their opinion on violent protest, cauvery issue, how the Prime Minister of India should take a decision soon.
Playback singer Srinivas: "As a CSK fan I feel gutted.. Especially when my team has given me so much joy in the first two matches. Art and sport are things that make you forget the miserable nature of our lives and make us happy .. When Kedar Jadhav, Billings, Bravo and Jadeja were in their elements giving it their all, we were transported to a different world bereft of the ugly world that we live in.. That is what makes sport or art truly special.. As a Tamil, I hang my head in shame, for the behavior of some of my misled brethren.. I hang my head in shame because people who I have loved as artists and humans have been responsible for this violence or at least didn’t lead properly.. I hang my head in shame, because I as a Tamil have a tiger by it’s tail and can’t guarantee what happens next. I hang my head in shame because some of my own brethren have forgotten to love, forgotten that violence will only lead to disintegration.I hang my head in shame, because I have not learnt from the past .. I hang my head in shame."
Actor Vishnu Vishal: "We cannot stop someone to execute their job/duties just beacuse some one els failed to execute their job/duty ..talk responsibly..comment responsibly..everybody has feelings n emotions...#CauveryMangementBoard"
Actor Siddharth: "IPL shifted. Vaazhthukkal. Can we please close tasmac? Next can we shut all TV channels owned by politicians? Can we please ban party flags at protest venues? There are many embarrassing things and people in our TN! Fight together. #SaveFarmers #CauveryIssue"
Actor and RJ Balaji: "Now IPL is shifted, ppl who wanted national attentn, got tat right?Ipo Cauvery Management Board vandhurum la.Only thing thy managed to do is to divert attention frm cauvery to cricket to violence. No sensible Tamizhan wil supprt thse unruly manipulative selfish methods. Now all those who protested violently against a sport and managed to shift the venue and consider that as success, better make sure that you get the cauvery management board set up too. Mudiyuma. ?"
Bigg Boss fame Gayathri Raghuram: "As responsible citizens are we helping to sort out the issues or creating issues? Just because some jokers comment bad on my posts it doesn't mean I won't I will. Jokers r jokers they hide behind their masks. Real Tamilian won't fall prey to politicians and act like political goons. Instead think sensibly. Real Tamilian think from ur heart and brain. Not behave like group of goats"
Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar: "It’s very sad to see the entire state in so much pain and agony.. Everyone is trying so hard to achieve the best outcome for our #CauveryIssue..I jus hope the government doesn’t turn a blind eye to the demands of our people..let peace prevail in this beautiful land #TamilNadu.."
Director Karthick Naren: "Our honourable prime minister should value our emotions. Justice delayed is justice denied. The state & its people are fighting for their survival. Silence/ignorance is not the right way to address it. கடைசியில் மலர்ந்தது மக்களின் கோபம் மட்டும் தான்!"
Actor Arvind Swami: "There were 2 forms of protests in 2 days... one got negative publicity, hurt our own ppl and ensured a no empathy scenario..the other got worldwide attention to a cause and demand, that is dear to us... you can decide which form was more effective as a learning for the future."
