Though he has been in the industry for almost seven years, actor Harish Kalyan has become a heartthrob of sorts after his stint in the popular reality show, Bigg Boss. With two contrast and interesting love stories in his kitty, the Poriyaalan star is quite confident about emerging as a solid performer.
“Pyaar Prema Kaadhal is a light-hearted love story, and the one with director Ranjith Jeyakodi is a strong, emotional love story. I have always wished to do some romantic flicks, and it finally happened. I have high hopes on both the projects,” begins Harish.
Elaborating about his role in Elan’s Pyaar Prema Kadhal, he says, “This film has no protagonist or antagonist. It’s a beautiful love story between two contrasting characters. Firstly, I decided to sign this film as Yuvan Shankar Raja was brought in as the composer. Secondly, it’s my characterisation that caught the attention. It’s a little wild, and at the same time, funny.”
On sharing screenspace with his Bigg Boss house inmate Raiza Wilson, he says, “To be frank, I didn’t know that the makers were in talks with Raiza for this project. Impressed with her performance during the audition, they brought her on-board. Only then I messaged her.”
While the movie buffs are quite excited to see their chemistry on-screen, Harish says that initially, it wasn’t easy for him to shoot with her. “The first scene that was shot, was an an intimate scene, and I felt little weird. But after four to five shoot of days, we became comfortable, and our chemistry brought that positive vibes to the entire team. We also attended workshops together to get into the skin of the characters.”
A romantic single from the film, High On Love, was recently released, and it went on to become a huge hit on social media. He says, “It’s a beautiful song, and that’s why we decided to release it first. However, many started speculating that our film is an adult rom-com, which is not true. I am sure the family audience will love it, as it’s all about love.” He adds, “The talkie portions of the film are over.”
Ask him about why he is taking it slow, by signing one film a year, he says, “It’s just that I am not getting good opportunities. My previous films, Poriyaalan and Vil Ambu had strong content, and most of the people liked it. But I am yet to get that ‘success’ tag to my name. I think only then the producers will approach me. I am sure it will happen soon.”
