Arya’s much-hyped bride hunt show, Enga Veetu Maapillai, came to an end on Tuesday. After being aired for 42 days, the show has apparently disappointed the fans, who watched it believing that the actor would find his life partner. However, in the end, the reality show took a dramatic twist.
While 16 contestants participated in the show, Agatha, Susana, and Seethalakshmi managed to make it to the final round. He was supposed to tie the knot with one of the three finalists. Unexpectedly, the actor refused to select his life partner, which left viewers shocked. He said, “While I have short listed Susana, Agatha and Seetha and even visited their homes to interact with their parents and family members, I still feel it is important for me to spend more time with the three girls before taking this decision. It’s not only about my life but it also involves parents and family members from both the sides. I will surely let you all know the name of my soulmate soon.”
One of the viewers, J Manikandan, a software professional, told us, “This was quite predictable and we knew Arya would come up with such excuses in the end. Thankfully, I haven’t been an avid follower of this show. Else it would have been just a waste of time.”
While a few more people say that the show was mere publicity stunt for the newly-launched Tamil channel, a source from the show’s production unit told us, “Each of the 16 contestants was paid over Rs 15,000 a week and Arya’s remuneration was over Rs 5 crore. Even the girls on the sets didn’t take things to heart and had a good time.”
Actor Kalaiyarasan, Arya’s friend and colleague, whose comments were aired during the finale, said, “This doesn’t look good on your part. You shouldn’t have come up with this decision after spending almost three months with them.”
Another Twitter user said, “If he didn’t want to choose one girl in the public, he could have made the finale a private ceremony with the girls, and could have just chosen one of them!!! What kind of a reason is that? #EngaVeetuMappillai.”
