Actress Chandini Tamilarasan, who had a couple of good films to her name last year, is ecstatic about the line-up of films she has this year. The actress has Vanangamudi and Sathuranga Vettai 2 with Arvind Swami, Raja Ranguski and Billa Paandi among others.
“I also have a horror film called AiLa aka Aishwarya Lakshmi, in which I play the lead. There is always a common perception that female characters will play the ghost in horror films. However, in AiLa I’m not the ghost,” says Chandini.
Chandini plays a writer in Raja Ranguski, and a journalist in Vanangamudi. “I didn’t take any references for either of my characters. In Raja Ranguski, I play Ranguski, which was also the name of late writer Sujatha sir’s pen. It is a thriller, in which Sirish plays a cop. It will provide the audience an engrossing watch.”
She tells us that Vanangamudi, which has Arvind Swami playing a cop, is a biopic of a police officer. “The story is based on real-life incidents and has an ensemble star cast like Simran, Nandita Swetha and Ritika Singh and is a character-driven script. I’m happy that each of my films is different from one another. I am also playing one of the heroines in Billa Paandi and that is another different role altogether.”
Chandini says that she doesn’t want to divulge about her role in the upcoming heist thriller Sathuranga Vettai 2. “The suspense revolves around my character and if I reveal it, the plot will be out. However, I’m glad to have shared screenspace with Arvind Swami in two films, which were shot simultaneously.” She adds, “We shot for Vanangamudi and Sathuranga Vettai 2 together. So, we shared a lot of interesting things. Arvind Swami is a great fun to be around with.”
With half a dozen films to her name, we prod her if she is in a hurry to sign projects. “No, firstly I am very choosy and secondly, I always take my time to sign films. I have finished shooting for most of these films early this year and were ready to release. I will now take a break and see how these films fare before signing up for my other projects,” she remarks.
