Actor Mahendran, who is still remembered for his performance as a child artiste in films like Kumbakonam Gopalu (1998) and Minsara Kanna (1999), is excited about his next. The actor will be seen playing the lead in a film, titled Ranga Rattinam, which will be a complete entertainer.
Talking about it to DTNext, the actor says, “Though I have played lead roles in many films, my role in this one will remind the child artiste Mahendran, who the audience witnessed in the 90s. I have maintained that energy throughout the film as the entire script is a laugh riot. It will be something on the lines of Sivakarthikeyan’s Varuthapadadha Valibar Sangam, as the film was shot in a village backdrop.”
He adds, “Motta Rajendran sir plays a crucial role in the film, and my combination scenes with him have come out really well. It will be packed-entertainer.” Directed by Sundaran, Shilpa Manjunath of Kaali fame plays the female lead. On his upcoming projects, he says, “I have also shot for a film, titled Idhukuthan Appovae Sonnen, which is again entertainer. It’s about an innocent guy who comes all the way to Chennai for a living. I am also doing another film, titled Namma Ooruku Ennadhaan Aachu, which is completely different from my other two films. It’s a scientific horror film, that has interesting characters,” he concludes.
