Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala released on Thursday and opened to mixed reviews. Even before its release it was the dialogue from the teaser, ‘Kya re setting ah’ that created an impact among the fans. Though Rajinikanth owns the style statement, it was debut actor Beemji, who takes Rajinikanth on his bike to Huma Qureshi’s house before the scene.
Beemji has also been lauded for his performance in the film. Talking to DTNext, the actor says, “I was auditioned at Dhanush’s sir Wunderbar office by Pa Ranjith. I was in fact the last to fill up the form after hearing about the casting call. Prior to that I was into housekeeping and lived alone. After a brief interview session, I was selected.”
Beemji says that the best moment of his life came when he was selected among two other people for the scene. “It was one of the most important scenes in the film and a couple of us had to enact it out. We waited till 2 am before assistant directors Jenny and Suresh were convinced that I could pull it off. Ranjith asked me to be more cautious as Thalaivar would be riding on the pillion. After we completed the scene, he asked me if I could take him for a bike ride around Mumbai. I politely refused knowing that he would be mobbed,” he adds.
Another interesting incident Beemji shared was when he fell asleep at Superstar’s room. “When I woke up, he said, dei enaku shot, naan ipo poren mudichutu varen enna. He is a legend and I was floored by his humility. I thank Ranjith for this opportunity as well.” On a concluding note he told us that his opening dialogue in the film was influenced from his real life. “Just when I was shooting for Kaala, my house along Adyar canal was demolished. I told Ranjith this and he asked me to bring the emotion live in front of the camera,” he concludes.
