Telugu actress Pooja Jhaveri, made her debut in Kollywood with Dhanush in Thodari (2015), but she believes that she is yet to make a mark in Tamil cinema. “I enjoyed being a part of Thodari, but it was only a cameo and people here are yet to see me in a full-fledged role. I am pretty sure that my upcoming projects will take me closer to the Tamil audience,” she begins.
The actress is currently shooting for a film titled 8, which stars Bharath in the lead. “This film will be a perfect launchpad for me in Tamil as it has all commercial ingredients. In fact, 8, has a bit of horror element as well, which will be a unique experience for the audience. My character is an intense one, and that’s the reason I decided to sign the project,” says Pooja, who has completed shooting 50 per cent of the film. “The shoot got little delayed due to the producer’s strike, and I got busy with my Telugu projects, too. Most of the portions were shot in the interiors of Pattukkottai, and we are planning to continue the second schedule of the film in August.”
On working with Bharath she says, “I am not that good with the language, and it’s him who patiently helped me with all the pronunciations. He is such a sweet co-star to work with.” Pooja had earlier shot for a Tamil film titled Rukkumani Vandi Varudhu, which had Atharvaa in the lead. But the film was shelved due to various reason, “I think the team had some issues with the production house, and that’s the reason the film was dropped. In fact, only a few scenes were left to be shot.”
Ask her if that had affected her, she says, “Not at all. It didn’t affect my career in anyway. Everything happens for a reason.” On her upcoming projects, she says, “I am shooting for a Telugu film with Allari Naresh, and I am also working on a Gujarati film. I am also in talks for a Tamil and a Bollywood project.”
