Actress Raai Laxmi’s first look of her upcoming Tamil film Cinderella, touted to be a horror film was trending on the internet on Sunday.
Netizens also commented that this could be a milestone in the actress’ career. Talking to us, Raai Laxmi says, “Though the first look might look spooky, the film is not only a horror film. It also has a fairytale in it. Then there is fantasy. As kids, many of us would have fantasised our lives around Cinderella, a popular fictional character. But she had two sides to her character. Similarly, the film will have two sides of the story to it.”
Raai Laxmi tells us that Cinderella, directed by Vinoo Venkatesh, a former assistant of SJ Suryah will go on floors soon. “Vinoo’s vision of his script was impressive. The film came to me at a time when I wasn’t interested in doing a horror flick. Cinderella too like other horror films, has a backstory to it. However, this will be a class apart. Even during photoshoot, I was impressed with the way Vinoo wanted it to be,” she adds.
In her 13-year career, the actress says that she has gone through a lot of ups and downs. “No one else would have had a career like I have. I have started being a part of movies that were in my wish list. The reason is, I have started to understand what the audience wants. Their tastes for films keep changing every six months and we need to cash in on it. Moreover, right films should release at the right time. If delayed, the movie gets dated and films would end up becoming a box-office bomb,” she elaborates. Laxmi will be seen playing a snake woman in Neeya 2, that has Jai playing the lead. “It has a huge star cast and Neeya 2 is one of the most challenging films I have done in my career.
Playing a snake woman was taxing but the efforts were worth it. It is another offbeat film. I have also signed another Tamil film which will be directed by Panneerselvam. I also have a romantic thriller and another comic caper in Telugu, which are all scheduled to release next year,” she concludes.
