Announcement on Vijay 63 that will be directed by Atlee was made last week by makers and it was confirmed that the film will go on floors in January.
Meanwhile, speculations on Mani Ratnam’s next after the success of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam started doing the rounds in tinseltown.
Speculation was that Mani Ratnam has revived his dream project Ponniyin Selvan that started more than a decade ago with Vijay and Mahesh Babu. Rumours were also abuzz that Vikram and STR might play other lead roles in the film. However, a source close to the ace director clarified on the project and told DTNext, “This time, Vijay and Mani sir would come together for the film, but not for Ponniyin Selvan. The project has been temporarily shelved and they will work together on a fresh script. There were several instances when the duo wanted to work together after Nerukku Ner, which was produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. Things did not fall in place.”
The film will be the first time in 25 years that Mani Ratnam will be working for an outside production house. It was Thiruda Thiruda that was last directed by Mani Ratnam for Aalayam Productions before he launched Madras Talkies. “Mani Ratnam-Vijay project will be bankrolled by Lyca Productions,” the source added.
