Actresses Kriti Kharbanda and Kalyani Priyardarshan have been roped in to play female leads in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Tamil film Vaan, helmed by Ra Karthik.

“We are also auditioning for another heroine. We will finalise the third female lead in the coming days,” Karthik told DTNext. Talking about casting Kriti and Kalyani, the daughter of ace filmmaker Priyadarshan, he said, “I wasn’t looking for someone with an image of a popular heroine. Despite having three heroines, I wouldn’t call it a triple-heroine subject as Vaan will be an author-backed film and all the four lead characters will have equal prominence. When I narrated the story to Kriti and Kalyani, they immediately related themselves to the story and expressed their interest to be a part of it.”
Divulging more about Vaan, he said, “Vaan could also be called a musical. We are currently working on the music of the film, scored by debutante Dheenadayaalan. The script touches upon the positive aspects of life. We all have restricted our lives within a four-inch mobile screen. Vaan tells you how beautiful our lives are beyond that.” The film is all set to go on floors soon. “We will launch the film this month in Chennai. From there the story takes off to Pollachi and its locales. Moreover, all three heroines will share screen space with each other,” concluded Karthik.
