Actors Vijay Sethupathi and Harish Kalyan have joined hands for a song based on Tamil saints for the film Ispadeu Rajavum Idhaya Raniyum.
The film has Harish Kalyan and Shilpa Manjunath in lead roles. Talking about the song, the director of the film Ranjith Jeyakodi told DTNext, “I don’t think anyone apart from Vijay Sethupathi would have convinced me when it came for my hunt for singers. The song has both rhythm and monologue to it. When Sam and I discussed about it, I approached Vijay Sethupathi. He immediately agreed and asked me when I would want him to record for the song.” The song had lyrics penned by Ranjith himself.
“When I sent him the lyric, he said, ‘Thalaiva enna idhu aadhi tamil ah iruku’ (Chief, the lyric to me looks like ancient Tamil). This is a song based on ancient Tamil saints. The song begins as a monologue and blends with another tune, which is sung by Harish,” he revealed. Talking about the shooting schedules, Ranjith said, “We have completed 80 per cent of the film’s talkie portion and have a song left to be shot. I am glad that the film has shaped up well.”
