The teaser of actor Vikranth’s upcoming film, Bakrid, which portrays a unique relationship between a man and a camel, was recently released and it went on to garner immense response on social media. Talking about the film to DTNext, actor Vikranth says, “First time in the history of Tamil cinema, we have tried something new. The entire film revolves around a life of a camel, that’s transported all the way to Rajasthan for its well-being. I can promise you that Bakrid has an interesting storyline that will be much-talked about post the release.”
The film is directed by Jagadeesan Subu, who recently won appreciations for his directorial debut Sigai, which had Kathir in the lead. “Jagadeesan Subu started working on this project, even before the makers signed me on board. It took around six to seven months for completing all the paper works and other formalities to bring the camel for shoot.” He adds, “After he narrated the script, I immediately agreed to be a part of it as it was different and interesting. It is something that filmmakers have not been attempted before and will not in future, too.”
Vikranth will be seen travelling with the camel throughout the film. Ask about his experience shooting for the film, he says, “Director asked me to spend time with the camel for more than a month prior to the shoot. I used to feed him and be with him all day to bring that connect between us. I got emotional and in fact, felt bad during the last day of the shoot. I spent almost three months with the camel and it was tough for me to leave him. The camel was like my family member. I still ask for his latest photos and videos and keep looking at it. I can never forget this journey in my life.” He adds, “Being a huge animal, it was little tough to shoot with him. However, he was soft and understood that we are of no harm to him.”
Vikranth also reveals that he has three different looks in the film. “I had to show difference in the time and tried my best to look different in every phase of life. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I didn’t commit for any other projects till I completed the shoot of this one.” Talking about the cast, he says, “Rohit Pathan of Theeran Adhigaram Ondru fame, and a foreigner, have played pivotal roles in the film. Vasundhara Kashyap will be seen playing my wife.” On his upcoming projects, he says, “I am waiting for the release of Suseenthiran’s Suttu Pidikka Utharavu and for Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2.”
