The actor reacts to a complaint issued by the producers of the recently-released Podhu Nalan Karudhi and says that he is disheartened to be connected to such rumours
On February 9, the producer and director Seiyon of Podhu Nalan Karudhi, that has Santosh Prathap and Karunakaran in lead roles, filed a complaint with the Commissioner of Police saying that actor Karunakaran had threatened to murder them and also attacked them with the help of a gang linked to loan sharks, as they questioned him about his absence from the film’s promotional events.
However, Karunakaran denied such allegations and said, “The promotion, which was scheduled on February 4, came to my notice through the producer only on February 1. I have committed myself for shoots away from Chennai on that date till February 8. I am someone, who is trying to help farmers and their families, who are limping back to normalcy after the Gaja cyclone. I come from a decent background. It is disheartening, that my name is being dragged into this kanthuvatti controversy. I forayed into film industry through short films.
I’m not an actor who ignores new producers and technicians. In fact, I performed a few scenes in the film putting my life at stake. However, I wish the team of Podhu Nalan Karudhi a grand success.”
