After almost two decades, Kamal Haasan is all set to entertain the audiences once again as Senapathy from Indian in the sequel to be directed by Shankar.
After the film was announced last year, reports began circulating that Ajay Devgn had been approached for a negative role. However, things didn’t work out and he turned down Indian 2. The actor recently spoke to a publication and explained the reason behind for opting out of the mega project.
Ajay explained that Shankar wanted to shoot the film immediately, but he had already started working on Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. Thus, he mentioned that due to lack of dates he opted out from the project.
Ajay also tried to clarify the rumours which suggested that he didn’t accept Indian 2 due to the negative character he was supposed to play. Ajay said, “For an artiste, there are no shades of grey, black or white — the more layers you have in a role, the better it is. I loved doing movies like Khakee (2004) and Company (2002), where my negative characters were appreciated. I would love to play such roles again. I cannot say if the role offered to me in Indian 2 is grey or not because I am not doing it now; it’s somebody else’s role.”
