After making his debut in K’wood with Pannaiyarum Padminiyum, director Arun Kumar came up with a fast-paced cop film, Sethupathi, that had Vijay Sethupathi in the lead.
The film, which released in 2016, went on to become a huge success at the box office and is still considered one of the bests in Sethupathi’s career. Now, we hear that the duo is planning to come up with the film’s sequel, which will be bankrolled by Vasan’s movies, the production house which produced the first instalment.
A source in the know of things says, “Sethupathi 2 will be a proper sequel and Arun Kumar wants to retain the casts, who acted in the film’s first part. However, an official announcement will be made only after he completes his third film, Sindhubaadh, which also has Vijay Sethupathi in the lead. In fact, the duo decided to work on Sethupathi sequel only on the sets of Sindhubaadh.” The source adds, “Vasan Movies has expressed its interest to produce the sequel as well.” Meanwhile, Vijay Sethupathi is currently in Hyderabad, shooting for his first Telugu film, Sye Raa Narasimhaa Reddy. The actor is also waiting for the release of Super Deluxe.
