After Lyca Productions backed out of Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, the director of the film, Shankar, has approached Reliance Entertainment to help them revive their dream project
The sequel to Kamal Haasan’s 1996 blockbuster Indian was announced by Lyca Productions on his birthday last year. Ever since the film went on floors from the second week of January, there have been a lot of speculations revolving around the project.
Recently, we reported that the makers of the film have decided to drop the project due to financial disputes with the actor. There were also speculations that Kamal Haasan wanted Lyca to produce his long pending film Sabhash Naidu and that’s one of the reasons the producers backed out of the project.
Now, we hear from reliable sources that the director of the film, Shankar, has approached Reliance Entertainment and requested them to take over the project from Lyca Productions.
A source in the know of things says, “Reliance Entertainment has been in talks with Shankar for a while now to team up for a new project. As Lyca backed out of Indian 2, Shankar has asked Reliance to take over the project and help him revive it.” Sources also say that Reliance Entertainment is yet to accept this offer as they are doubtful about content of the film. The source adds, “Shankar has submitted the bound script of
Indian 2 to the production house. Things will get finalised in a month’s time.” The film, which is rumoured to hit the screens in 2020, has Kajal Aggarwal playing the female lead. Actor Siddharth has also been roped in to play a crucial role in the film.
