Suriya, who was supposed to reunite with director Hari for a film, has apparently backed out of the project due to creative differences
Post the release of Thaana Serntha Koottam, Suriya announced that he would be joining hands with Selvaraghavan, Hari, Sudha Kongara and KV Anand for his upcoming projects. Hari, too, told DT Next that a project with Suriya was in the works, and that it had nothing to do with the popular Singam franchise.
A month ago, speculations were rife that their project has been titled Yaanai and the film would go on floors post the shoot of Selvaraghavan’s NGK. However, Suriya announced that he had already started working for Sudha Kongora’s project, titled Soorarai Pottru. Now, we hear from reliable sources that Suriya has decided to back out of Hari’s project due to various reasons. The duo, who have worked together in five films, may not reunite anytime soon.
A source in the know of things says, “Hari was supposed to do a cop film with Suriya post NGK. However, the project didn’t take off as Suriya wasn’t satisfied with the script and he felt that such films would not work with the audience anymore. That’s one of the reasons why the project was dropped.” Interestingly, we hear that director Hari has also approached Jayam Ravi for an action entertainer and even narrated the script. However, the latter too, turned down the offer due to date issues. “These are mere rumours. Hari is currently working on the script. He is yet to finalise on the cast and crew of his next,” a source said.
