Last year, director Atlee was one of the special invitees of Shah Rukh Khan for Kolkata Knight Riders versus Chennai Super Kings IPL match in Chennai. Prior to that, the actor had also met Atlee at his office, which paved the way for speculation that the two were coming together for a Bollywood film that could be Atlee’s directorial debut.
However, the expectations faded away after Shah Rukh met Vetri Maaran and expressed his desire to collaborate with him. The latest is that the SRK-Atlee project is all set to go on floors with Deepika Padukone as the heroine. A source in the know said, “Atlee has narrated the script to Deepika and she expressed her interest to be a part of the film. However, she hasn’t signed the contract yet and will do it in the coming days.” The film will be the fourth collaboration of Shah Rukh and Deepika.
Titled Sanki, the film could potentially be the Hindi remake of Tamil hit film Mersal that had Vijay playing three different roles. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.
