'Premam' sensation Sai Pallavi's Tamil debut is an emotional horror film titled 'Diya'. She plays a mother to a five year-old-child. Simultaneously also made in Telugu as 'Kanam', the film is helmed by AL Vijay, and is all set to hit the screens on April 27.

Diya has already gained a notable pre-release buzz, with its emotionally haunting trailer, and it's lead actress, Sai Pallavi. She has been having a huge fan following in Tamil post her Malayalam debut, Premam. Now, Diya will mark as her debut into Kollywood. Helmed by AL Vijay, this horror film was simultaneously shot in Telugu as well, under the name of Kanam.
Going by the trailer and promos, the film is expected to revolve around the sensitive topic of abortion, and a small girl, played by Veronika Arora. Initially titled and promoted as Karu, the film was supposed to hit the screens on February 9, but due to various issues, the makers of the movie have now decided to release it on April 27, under the name of Diya.
Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, Diya, features Naga Shourya, a prominent Telugu actor as the male lead, while RJ Balaji, Rekha and Nizhalgal Ravi will be seen in important roles. With music composed by Sam CS of Vikram Vedha fame, and camera by Nirav Shah, Anthony has provided the cuts for the film.
