Pandithurai (Jegan) who lives in Tanjore district is interested in politics so he tries to become the chairman of his town. His father and ex-chairman Thanjirayar are close friends. Thanjirayar's son Nayagam too tries for the chairman post. In a cunning way he sends Pandithurai to prison and becomes the chairman of the town.
When Pandithurai returns from jail he plans in many ways to place himself in that post.As part of his plan he decides to remove Nayagam from power by loving Nayagam's kin Kayal. Though Kayal hates him in the beginning, she slowly starts to love Pandithurai.
In the meantime few people who consume illegal drinks in Nayagam's bar collapse. Pandithurai uses this to remove Nayagam from power. This incident further increases their feud. They even go to the extreme by trying to kill each other. How they resolve the issues and overcome the hatred is rest of the story.
Jegan has strongly recorded his acting skills. He has lived upto his character and in many scenes his dialogue deliveries go well with his character. Kayal has done a powerful character and has shown maturity in her acting. She has given a good performance in her debut. T.Ravi as Thanjirayar has done justice to his character. Even Nayagam, Singampuli, Sinthu, Murugadoss have done their part well.
The rivalry for the power of politics is the main theme of this story .For this a brilliant screenplay and meaningful dialogues are given by director Chozhadevan. He has also maintained the pace through out the movie. He has brought out the best from the debut actors. Yathish Mahadev's music is a plus to this movie and two songs are admirable. Cinematographer Haribaskar has done a good job.
