During the mission, Peter also encounters his former CIA protégé, David Mason, (Luke Bracey). The flash back shows that there was a fall-out between the two and the relationship had turned sour. Though David still expects Peter's approval, he tries to be nasty.
Meanwhile Devereaux is not able to trust anyone as he has a growing suspicion about a cover-up in the agency. How he goes about in this conundrum is the rest of the story.
The director, Roger Donaldson, does not give anything new in this film and therefore it does not impress the audience much. The plot seems to be too cluttered. Pierce Brosnan has carried his act well and that might be the sole reason for you to watch the movie.
