Karunakaran is a call-taxi driver who loves his friend's sister (Vijayalakshmi). He gets married to her and suffers huge debts. A bookie (Balaji) travels in Karuna's taxi with a hefty amount. During the trip, they get to know each other and Karunakaran informs Balaji about the debts. Balaji says he will help him and asks him to pick him up from the hotel the next day.
Meanwhile a special police team under the guidance of a higher official (K.S.Ravikumar) and inspector (Simha) is in search of cricket gamblers. The next day when Karunakaran enters the hotel to pick up Balaji, he finds him dead. Shocked by this, he files a complaint. While doing the enquiry, Karunakaran is arrested as his entry is registered in the CCTV.
On hearing about Balaji's death, Naren who had given his money to Balaji tries to get details from Karunakaran so he kdnaps Karunakaran. Did Karunakaran escape from this or not is the rest of the story.
Karunakaran gets his first chance to be a hero in this movie and he has utilized it well. With his innocent looks he has portrayed a casual act. Vijayalakshmi has very little chance to shine. Simha has tried to infuse comedy in his role. Radha Ravi, K.S.Ravikumar, Naren and Balaji have done justice to their roles.
Songs are very ordinary in Sean Roldon's music and little more attention could have been given to background music. The cinematography of Dwarakanath is excellent. In spite of a good theme, director Badri had slipped in his screenplay.
