'Aranmanai' is a comedy horror film involving a family who tries to sell their ancestral property. Chitra Lakshmanan, Kovai Sarala and Vinay joins together to dispose their ancestral property. Saravanan has wanted this palace for quite a long time.
The family members decide to stay in the old palace till the documents are prepared. Vinay's wife Andreah, Manobala-Kovai Sarala's son Nithin Sathya and Chitra Lakshmanan's daughter Rai Laxmi also join the others at the palace. Amidst this, Santhanam, an illegitimate heir enters the house under the pretext of a servant to get hold of his share.
As days go by, they all feel something mysterious about the palace. Andreah's brother Sundar.C comes there and he confirms the presence of a ghost in the palace. Andreah is under the control of it. How they handle the issue is the rest of the story.
Director Sundar.C has taken the role of a responsible brother. Vinay has done his part well. Though the movie has two male leads, they are dominated by the female leads. Andreah scores in her acting. Rai Laxmi has done a glam role. Though given a little chance Hansika has done her part in an impressive way. Santhanam, Manobala, Kovai Sarala, Nithin Sathya and Chitra Lakshmanan have done their parts well.
Songs are good in Barathwaj's music and the background music is excellent. Senthilkumar's camera work is an added strength to the film. Sundar.C has succeeded in making a good storyline with comedy and horror.The art director can be given a special appreciation for his work.
