Many movies have come so far about the blood sucking Dracula but this movie is about the origin of it. The story starts in 1942 when Vlad (Luke Evans) was a soldier in the Turkish Sultanate. Later he becomes the ruler of Transylvania.
One day, Vlad discovers a Turkish helmet in his territory and tries to find more about it. During the search, he encounters an ancient sorcerer and master vampire in a nearby cave. The master vampire kills Vlad's men and drives Vlad out of his lair.
The following day, a Turkish party arrives and demands 1000 boys to join the Turkish army. In order to save the children, Vlad needs more power and therefore he seeks the help of the master vampire. Vlad requests the master vampire to turn him into a vampire so that he can save his people. Whether he was able to save his men or not is the rest of the story.
Luke Evans has done well to fit admirably in the role of Dracula. Sarah Gadone does not have much to do in the given role. Dominic Cooper has done his part well.
The movie's visual effects are very realistic and can be appreciated. Director Gary Shore has proved his mettle in his directorial debut by choosing a vampire story and delivering it in the right way.
