'Komban' story revolves around three villages near Paramakudi. Karthi who is a butcher by profession, lives in Arasanadu. The village people are affectionate towards him and Karthi reciprocates by standing up for them on any communal issues.
Karthi is invited to attend a festival in Semmanadu and there he meets Lakshmi Menon with whom he falls in love. Karthi’s relative (Karunas) learns about his affection towards Lakshmi Menon and tries to convince her father (Raj Kiran) about the same.
Raj Kiran is particular about knowing Karthi and therefore enquires about him in his village. When Karthi comes to know about this, it results in Karthi’s change of behaviour towards Raj Kiran.
Karthi keeps a distance with Raj Kiran even after marriage. Meantime, a discord occurs between Karthi and Raj Kiran, which leads to Lakshmi Menon leaving Karthi’s house. Later on, Karthi realises his mistake and tries to make amends with Raj Kiran.
When everything seems to fall into place, police arrests Raj Kiran. What happens next and how Raj Kiran is rescued from the hands of the villain is the rest of the story.
Karthi shines in action and romance sequences. Lakshmi fits well into the village belle character. Raj Kiran lives up to his character and Thambi Ramaiah has done subtle comedy which can be appreciated. Kovai Sarala gets appreciated for the motherly role portrayed to perfection.
Director Muthiah has captured the beautiful essence of relationships in this movie. The movie has too many fight scenes which will not be enjoyed by many.
GV Prakash has done a commendable work in case of the BGM while songs doesn’t stick much to the audience liking. Velraj's camera works bring out the beauty of the villages and is pleasant to the eyes.
