Arya is an activist in a communist party. A death penalty has been given against him and Shaam is the police officer who is in charge of executing this verdict. He goes in search of a hang man but since death sentences have become rare he finds it difficult to get the right person.
Finally when he comes to know that Vijay Sethupathi's father was a hangman and after his demise Vijay had done it once, he tries to bring him back to the job. Vijay refuses to accept the offer.
Meanwhile Karthika Nair another colleague of Arya wants to save him with her crew. They plan to kill Vijay Sethupathi but knowing Vijay's actual feelings they explain to him the good deeds done by Arya and try to bring him into their association. The rest of the story narrates how Arya is freed from his death sentence.
We have seen Arya so far in a lovable, jolly going characters but for the first time he has taken up a serious and responsible role. He has dominated throughout the movie by his power packed acting.
Shaam fits well in his role and Karthika has done her portions in a commendable manner. Vijay Sethupathi is very expressive and has done justice to the given character.
Director S.P.Jananathan has proved his experience once again. The apt choice of the artists for his characters do wonders in the screen. The BGM is amazing in Varshan's music. Ekambaram's cinematography is very supportive to the movie.
