Hero Sanjay and heroine Aishwarya are research students in a Coimbatore college and they are in love with each other. Daya who is a professor in their college seeks the government's permission to enter the forest area in Semmedu near Coimbatore for his research about uranium ore. Doctor Rai also tries for the same but Daya gets government’s permission to proceed with the research.
Professor Daya enters the forest with seven students including Sanjay, Aishwarya and Suresh. The forest officials and the police do the needful to help them. Feeling bad about his rejection Doctor Rai sends a person secretly to note down the team's activities. Once when Suresh is alone with his lover who is a co-student they end up in a conflict and she meets her end. Suresh throws her body into a quick sand pit. But Aishwarya shoots the incident in her camera. When Suresh tries to catch her she hides herself in the forest. The person sent by Rai catches her and hands her over to the doctor.
The doctor threatens Sanjay to pass out the details of their findings to release Aishwarya and Sanjay does the same. Meanwhile a complaint has been lodged to the police about the missing students. The police seek the tribal people's help in their search. At one stage Aishwarya conveys the secrets of Suresh to another student. But even he is killed by Suresh and thrown into the pit. Nellai Siva who is the tribal people leader meets the same end when he doubts about the missing students. What happens finally and the aftermath has been narrated in the rest of the screenplay.
Hero Sanjay looks bright as a college student but struggles a bit in love scenes. Aishwarya has done her role effectively. Suresh also gets the appreciation for his work. Director Ragunath has taken the crime story of novel writer Rajeshkumar but failed to bring it effectively in the screenplay.
Songs and the background music are to the average level in Deva's composition. Ramalingam's camera work is a visual treat.
