Terminator Genisys is an American science fiction film and the fifth instalment in the very popular Terminator series.
The film features Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Clarke, Emilia Clarke in lead roles and is directed by Alan Taylor. The filmmaker has made use of the sequel to alter the timeline of the original story and the flick showcases the incidents happening in 2029.
Human resistance leader, John Connor (Jason Clarke) plans to destroy Skynet which is a self- aware artificial intelligence (the main antagonist). Skynet urges to eradicate the human race and physical manifestation is played by Matt Smith in ‘Terminator Genisys’.
Before getting destroyed by the resistance, Skynet activates a time machine and sends back a T-800 Terminator to 1984 to kill John's mother, Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke).
Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney), agrees to travel back in time to protect Sarah and while travelling
back witnesses John being attacked and receives new memories from his childhood about events in 2017.
Upon its arrival in 1984, Skynet's T-800 is disabled by Sarah and the Guardian (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a T-800 sent to protect her when she was nine years old. Kyle arrives a short time later and is immediately attacked by a T-1000 (Lee Byung-hun). Sarah and the Guardian join Kyle and destroy the T-1000 using acid.
It is then revealed that Sarah and the Guardian have constructed a makeshift time machine similar to Skynet's, and that Sarah plans to travel to 1997 to prevent Skynet from becoming self-aware.
The rest of the story unveils whether the gang accomplished their plan to save the mankind from Skynet.
Alan Taylor has come up with a surprisingly creative and brilliantly science fiction. The film has stunning action sequences and impressive special effects along with the irresisitible screen presence of Arnold Schwartzenegger.
Though the storyline seems to be quite interesting, the screenplay lacks required momentum which in turn fails to keep the audience engaged till the end.
All the artists in the lead characters have done justice to their roles and the script is quite is filled with lots of memories, and a few effective twists.
In other words, Arnold is the biggest asset of Terminator Genisys who has made a solid comeback as an iconic star.
