The story of 'Orange Mittai' reveals the loneliness faced by parents during old age and the relationship between a father-son duo. Ramesh Tilak works as a paramedic in an ambulance and Arumugam Bala works as the driver. Ramesh is in love with Ashritha but in order to accept the love, Ashritha’s father insists Ramesh to take up some other business.
Meanwhile, Ramesh gets an emergency call from a village named Agasthiyapatti. When they reach the place, Vijay Sethupathi claims that he is the patient and he should be treated with proper care. Ramesh and Arumugam picks him up and returns to the hospital. On their way back, they are continuously mocked by Vijay Sethupathi and also face few hurdles on the road. Is Vijay really a sick patient or does he mock the youngsters for fun is explained in the rest of the story.
Actor Vijay Sethupathi who shows varieties in choosing his characters is bold enough to do an elderly role in this movie. He pictures the mood swings and the ego pricks of an aged person pretty convincingly. This short film has given him an opportunity to show his acting talents.
Ramesh Tilak has done a great performance compared to his previous movies. Arumugam Bala's dialogue delivery, facial expressions and body language are appreciable. Director Biju Viswanath has neatly pictured the loneliness and the child-like attitude of an elderly person.
Justin Prabakaran's music adds strength to the movie and Biju Viswanath's camera works are excellent.
