‘Vetrinadai Jacky’ depicts the life of a gangster who solves problems among big rival gangs.
The film is a highly hyped, stylish gangster flick which stars Mohanlal, Bhavana, Sampath, Rahul Dev, Nedumudi Venu, Suman and Shobana in lead roles.
Shobana, daughter of Kerala Chief Minister Nedumudi Venu seeks Mohanlal’s help after her husband Manoj.K.Jayan gets kidnapped. She also insists that the police department is not taking proper action in the kidnap case due to the influence of her brother Ganesh, a budding politician who wants to inherit his father’s political heritage.
Mohanlal finds out that Shobana’s husband has been kidnapped by Rozario brothers. Mohanlala flies in to Kochi, in his personal jet along with his 4 member gang. They take on the Rozario brothers, rescue Manoj which leads to more trouble with a host of baddies like Rahul Dev.
Meanwhile, Bhavana who plays television news reporter tries to investigate and expose Mohanlal and ends up falling in love with him and gets killed at the end.
The film which was released amidst much anticipation of the audience lacked an engaging storyline and a gripping screenplay. Filmmaker Amal Neerad has focussed more on setting the story in a stylish way and has failed to impress the audience with some interesting twists.
Mohanlal’s screen presence is a huge support to the film and Bhavana’s role is predictable.
