Zach Cooper and his mother move from New York to Madison where their neighbour Shivers warns Zach to stay away from his daughter Hannah. One evening, Zach suspects Hannah to be mistreated by her father and tries to investigate the same. He along with his friend Champ goes to Hannah’s house where they spot Goosebumps manuscripts. Chap wonders why the manuscripts are locked and unlocks “The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena”. The Yeti comes alive from the script and the three kids try to lock it back in the book.
Luckily Mr. Shivers come to their aid and captures the Yeti. He also explains that he is R.L. Stine and he had to trap the monsters in the manuscripts as they become uncontrollable when let loose. Returning home, they find an angry Slappy from “Night of the Living Dummy”. Slappy is annoyed about the imprisonment and therefore burns his manuscript. He also plans to destroy the town by letting the other monsters on the loose.
Did the monsters succeed in their plan or did Mr. Shivers find a way to save the town from them is the rest of the story.
Director Rob Letterman could have done much better as the movie fails to create the expected impact. One can feel the drag in the script and none of the monsters seem to be scary. The director has ended the story with a hint for the sequel and we just hope it will give us the goosebumps.
