Directed by R P Ravi, Tharkappu featuring Sakthi Vasu as a brave cop is the story of an encounter specialist who falls in trouble after an encounter. Police officer Sakthi blindly obeys his seniors and takes in charge of encounters. At one of his encounter with a criminal (Riyaas Khan) he realise the real face of his senior officials. Series of events lead Human Rights officer Samuthirakani to investigate on the encounter, which brings in a string of thrilling events.
The film has given a whole new avatar to the romantic chocolate boy Sakthi Vasu. He is dashing in trim physique and has pulled off his role neatly. Versatile actor Samuthirakani who appears in the role of a human rights officer have proved his expertise in acting in this film as well. To mention in particular, his dialogues are well-delivered. The cast which includes Sathish Krishnan, Vaishali Deepak, Amitha, Riyaz Khan Vatsan Chakravarthy, Ganesh Prasath and many others have done their part well.
The director's attempt to implant a message on the need to respect human lives is laudable. Despite being an action thriller, the film does offer rib-tickling moments which is impressive.
Music by Faizal is impressive. With that said, the wrong placement of songs and amateurish love scenes spoiled the momentum of the film. Camera cranked by Jones Anand and editing by San Jose has enhanced the pace of the film.
On the whole, Tharkappu is worth a watch for its unexpected twists and turns and definitely for Sakthi Vasu's make-over!
