Directed by Ericson Core, 'Point Break' is inspired from the classic 1991 hit. The film is about a young FBI agent Johnny Utah who sets to infiltrate a group of extreme thrill-seeking criminals, who perform daredevil stunts to rob money from banks. Befriending the group's leader Bodhi, the adventure lover Johnny learns their tactics and also improves his special skills.
Being with the criminal gang, Johnny spends most of his time in creating a good bond with criminals and also falls in love with one of their team members, Taylor. This makes the superiors of Johnny fear his loyalty. Will Johnny be loyal to his superior officials? To know more about what happens next, watch the film on the silver screens.
Comparatively, director Ericson Core has done a better job than the original version. From surfing on high tides to trekking steep slippery mountains, the film is packed with breathtaking scenes and stunts. Point Break offers several edge of the seat moments to audiences, to mention in particular, the mountain top motorcycle race and a rock-climbing sequence which comes towards the end of the film.
The lead roles played by Luke Bracey as Utah and Edgar Ramirez as Bodhi are impressive. With that said, Point Break creates a mind-numbingly dull impact on the minds of the audience. Despite having expensive stunts and intense VFX, the film fails to keep up to the mightiness of its original in terms of its technicalities. The poor CGI work is the biggest spoiler of the film, which could have been done better.
Also, at several points of the film, one would feel that it is rushed, especially the important parts of the film were given lessser attention. On the whole, Point Break is a one-time watchable fun affair for few of its adrenaline-pumping action scenes!
