'Moondram Ulaga Por' is based on a fantasy war that will happen between India and China in 2025. The story narrates the hardships of the soldiers along with the emotions of their family members.
Hero Sunil Kumar serves as a Major General in the Indian Army. When he comes home for his holidays, he ties knot to Akila Kishore. Within few days after his marriage he leaves his wife and reports back to duty. Thats when Chinese military commander Wilson send 100 soldiers to India along with his son to create turmoil. Though all the soldiers carry a computer chip in their body for supervision purpose, they go untraceable after their entry to Indian territory.
In this situation, the Chinese Commandos kidnap 100 Indian soldiers who are on duty in the border line and Major Sunil Kumar is one among them. Keeping Sunil Kumar under their custody they kill all the other Indian soldiers. What will happen to the kidnapped 100 soldiers? Will Sunil Kumar escape from the Chinese custody? Hero Sunil Kumar's well built physique helped him to fit well in his military character. Though the actor shined well as a soldier, he had less chance for romance as the story mainly revolves around war sequences. Akila Kishore's performance is neat and impressive. Wilson is the backbone of the film. The actor who shares an equal screenspace as that of the hero has delivered a suave performance.
Though the story is set in the backdrop of 2025, director Sugan Karthi has not exposed any latest technologies in his shots. More over the war scenes resembled to that of a normal video game. This makes the film less interesting. However, dialogues are the strength of the film. Infact, the perfect dialogue delivery of the lead stars is a treat to audiences. Ved Shankar's music is loud and noisy which could have been concentrated more. Deva's cinematography is to the average.
