Directed by Kenthiran Muniyasami, 'Sethu Boomi' features Thaman Kumar and Samskruthy Shenoy in the lead. The film is about an aspiring youngster whose life criss-crosses with a gangster group. Thaman plays the role of a youngster who aspires to work in China. Having made all the arrangements to fulfill his desire, he goes to his home town Ramanathapuram to stay with his parents for few days.
On the parallel side, a big don takes control of the police in Ramanathapuram and rules the place. Though the cops oblige the rowdy, they maintain a hostility towards him. Amidst this situation, Thaman meets Samskruthy, a college student, and he falls for her at the very first sight. When he expresses his love to her, Samskruthy rejects him. Followed by this, Thaman leaves his home town but a mysterious gang disrupts his journey and tries to murder him. Unexpectedly, Samskruthy falls prey to them. Who are the gangsters? Why did they attempt to kill Thaman? This forms the crux of the story.
It is interesting to see Thaman in a completely new look as a village boy. The actor fits in well and looks attractive with his rough mustache and other needed aspects to resemble a village lad. In fact, his performance is effortless and casual. Samskruthy's attempt to take up a strong performance oriented character is impressive. The actress has given her best. Singam Puli's humorous one-liners and situational comedy have entertained the audience.
Director Kenthiran Muniyasami has not only helmed the team but also played the maternal uncle role of the heroine. The director can be appreciated for coming up with a neat rural based flick having an interesting storyline, realistic sequences and an apt cast.
Songs are enjoyable under the composition of V.T.Bharathi - V.T.Monish. The camera work of Muthuramalingam is colourful and has helped in enhancing the richness of the shots. On the whole, 'Sethu Boomi' is a watchable rural action drama.
