Smart Jiiva eases through the part, thanks to his experience. For his 25th film, he hasn't opted for a tried and tested script and refreshingly tries a different route. Eye candy Hansika looks like a dream as always, but her role falls in a similar playful zone as some of her previous roles. A pat to her costume designer and stylist for making it so pleasing for us, the viewers.
Sibiraj doesn't make the desired impact due to the way his role has been written and also the way it has been presented by the director. But the likes of Yogi Babu, Ramadoss and Manobala make sure that the fun quotient is maintained at a high level, with their comedy skills.
Quite a few of Imman's songs have become popular but his BGM is on the louder side. The camera work and VFX convey the fantasy element well, and the usage of animation for a flashback sequence is interesting too. Director Ramprakash Rayappa shows guts to take on the fantasy angle but he needed better focus to make a greater dent on the viewers. After Tamizhukku En Ondrai Azhuthavum, Ramprakash shows that he can be unpredictable with his choice of genres. Though the end result of Pokkiri Raja isn't great, it is an attempt all right!
