Lee Gates (George Clooney) is the host of the show Money Monster which has Patty Fenn (Julia Roberts) as the producer. The usual drama that happens behind stage is portrayed well as Lee comes across as a man full of himself and Patty on the other hand holds the whole show in place. The show is a bit theatrical with dance backing and lot of props.
The story is all about how this team becomes hostage due to a bad suggestion made by Lee. Kyle Budwell (Jack O’Connell) invests his entire saving in Ibis Clear Capital and is shattered when it all goes down the drain due to a so called ‘GLITCH’. Kyle has lost his patience and expects answers from both the owner of Ibis Capital as well as the financial guru aka 'Money Monster’ host Lee Gates.
George Clooney and Julia Roberts have done well throughout the gig. Jack O’Connell comes across as a good find for the character and even the supporting actors have done a commendable job.
Money Monster tries to show how rigged the financial system can be and the drama that ensue in the media world. Director Jodie Foster has tried to show the wrong things are actually done by humans and not by the algorithms. The movie is not thrilling for most part, but the subtle humor is enjoyable and can help us overlook the misgivings.
In short, Money Monster is all about the corporate greed and its ugly effects.
