A Aa is the much anticipated romantic comedy film that has finally released by the end of summer. The film has interesting leads like Nithin, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Anupama Parameswaran. Written and directed by Trivikram, he has used his own strength of family drama to its full use. The film is produced by S Radha Krishna under his banner Haarika and Haasine Creations. Mickey J Meyer’s music is refreshing. Natarajan’s cinematography is a major asset to this film.
Anasuya Ramalingam (Samantha) is a 23-year old girl who belongs to a sophisticated family in Hydrebad. Nadiya (Mahalakshmi) is her mom who is strict and Anu is just a puppet in her protective environment. While Rao Ramesh plays a dear dad who is always by her side. Nadiya’s role is same as that of the Santhosh's father character in Bommarillu. Though many scenes remind us of super hit films like these, it is rather unfortunate that this film lacks a novel story like that of the evergreen films. However, it is a simple family entertainer with a mix of comedy, romance, and relationships.
Samantha as Anasuya is every bit cute, but doesn’t strike the chord at all times. Mind you, she has got the killer looks and plays a comic role for the first time. Things take a turn when she goes to Kalavapudi village near Vijayawada. Anu meets her cousin Nandu, who suddenly becomes the guy of her dreams. Set in a village, the beautiful landscape, lush greenery, and the simple house of Nandu makes her jump up and down. Anu comes out of the shell and enjoys her newly-found freedom as she was always under the control of her mom. She discovers the joy of being in her aunt's place. Ananya as Nandu's sister and the rest of the supporting cast have done their part well.
The first half of the film is enjoyable and takes you on to a village life. There is a terrific chemistry between Anu and Nandu. She feels the spark for him, while her gestures, understanding his problems and a never-give-up attitude depicts what all a girl would do for a guy. The film is more about love and life from the girl's perspective and whether she will be able to unite both their families’ who are not in talking terms forms the rest of the story.
The second half of the movie is slow, and completely out of sync. Especially the sequences at the Inorbit Mall are boring. There are so many flashbacks that you would lose a count on. Emotional scenes and break up scenes would not tear your heart apart as it lacks depth and falls short of expectations. Yet, it will keep you engrossed as it scores high on romance, comedy and the other key technical aspects.
