Hero Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah and Shrusti Dange maintain a good friendship while doing their medical graduation in Madurai. But as days go, Shrusti develops a love feeling towards Vijay and Vijay, in return, advises her to give first priority to her studies. This attitude of Vijay creates a good impression in Tamannaah's mind about him.
Meanwhile, all the friends complete their course and return to their home places. Accepting his professor Rajesh's advice, Vijay starts serving the people in his village. While doing so, Vijay gets attracted to poor Aishwarya Rajesh and fixes their marriage through his brother Aruldoss. But because of an incident, Vijay develops a hatred towards his brothers. He gets addicted to liquor and even escapes death caused by someone close to him. He, then, leaves his village and goes to meet his college friends Tamannaah and Shrusti Dange. Is he able to meet his friends and the changes that happen afterwards are narrated in the second part of the film.
As usual, Vijay Sethupathi has registered a casual acting in this film too. Being a village oriented story, Vijay makes it perfect with his skills. Emoting his sorrows in an effective manner, Vijay makes the audience involve with him. Tamannaah has taken up a family girl character and she looks beautiful in this film. She has done her best in the second part of the film and it proves the director's ability to bring the needful from the actress. Though given a few scenes, Shrusti Dange utilizes her chances and registers herself with her acting skills.
Likewise, Aishwarya Rajesh, Aruldoss and Soundararaja have done justice to their given portions. Aishwarya can be given a special applause for her performance. Radhika Sarathkumar, who plays the mother of Vijay Sethupathi, adds strength to the film by her experienced acting and the perfect dialogue delivery. Rajesh has been used to advise the medical students and he inspires the viewers with his ability. While insisting the concept that doctors should be ready to work in the rural areas, Seenu Ramasamy has given it with a love mixed village oriented family story and succeeds in making the film interesting on the whole.
Songs are enjoyable in Yuvan Shankar Raja's music and the BGMs are also very effective and adds support to the film. Sukumar's camera brings out the scenic beauty of the rural areas.
Totally, Dharmadurai can be ranked a quality film.
