Guhan, a college-goer happens to witness a youth getting thrashed whilst on his way to college. After saving the youngster, hero Guhan inquires with him why he was being chased and attacked. He reveals that he is attracted to women and that has offended many. Upon hearing the youngster's plight, Guhan shares with him few pointers on how to make a lasting impression among women. Impressed by Guhan's suggestions, the youngster decides to befriend him and follows what he tells him to do.
One day, both of them see the heroine Ashwini and she instantly falls for Guhan. In time, Guhan too is smitten by her and they are romantically involved. However, Ashwini is from a rich family who oppose their relationship. As a result, the two decide to elope and head to Kodaikkanal. Upon reaching the hill station, they decide to enter into wedlock through register marriage. However, a situation forces them into a position where they can only get married after 15 days. In these 15 days, small issues crop up between the couple and their relationship is put to test in this time. How the couple overcome those issues and whether they get united forms the rest of the story of Kandaen Kadhal Kondaen.
The film's lead Guhan is a familiar face to many as he has appeared in many television programs. Although he has potential to make a mark as a hero in the industry, he requires more effort in the acting department. Ashwini, who plays the female lead in the film is akin to every Tamil heroine before where she comes and goes on screen. However, she has passed the test with her performance in the role offered to her. The youngster who comes as Guhan's friend in the film has done a fine job as the scenes he's featured in are a joy to watch. No other characters make a lasting impression though.
Director Venkat G. Samy has tried making a romantic film using less number of characters. Although the first half of the film is fun at most parts, the second half is a drag to say the least. The songs composed by Naaga Dutta are enjoyable and he has done a fine job in the background score department too. Suresh Devan's cinematography is colorful.
In short, Kandaen Kadhal Kondaen is one-time watchable.
