An interview for the post of a CEO in a huge company invites a group of 8 people consisting of women and men to the office which also includes the lead pair. Jayakumar, who holds an esteemed position in that company welcomes them and traps them in a room. The 8 of them are forced into a game where the room would be locked for a hour and the last person standing will be given the post of CEO.
Once inside the room, the 8 of them lose track of who they are and what their background is; and battle it out to be the one person who wins it. What happens to them and who ends up winning this cruel game forms the crux of Dhayam.
What's the perks of being a CEO after killing 7 people? Why is that job so special? The climax answers these questions. All these 8 people have different personas.
Similar themes are well known in Hollywood. They've tried to recreate the same with this Tamil flick. But even though they've axed any entertaining portions and have taken the film in a thrilling manner, the film fails to capture the audience.
Despite having 8 different characters with each roles differing in certain fashion, they aren't relatable for the audience. Even with a twist in the climax, there isn't much for us to take home in this flick. Being a thriller that happens inside a room, more importance should've been given to the story. As the film doesn't invoke much interest, the music too doesn't add much to the story as a whole. Cinematography deserves praise though.
Overall, Dhayam is a dice that's best left unrolled.
