Vijay Murugan takes it as his own responsibility to protect Sharath Lohitashwa's family and likewise he comes to know that there are a few people who tease Manjima Mohan everyday on her way to college. Vikram Prabhu is soon entrusted with the task to be the bodyguard of Manjima Mohan. The next day he thrashes all those who troubled Manjima left and right. Witnessing his bravery, Manjima soon starts to fall in love with Vikram Prabhu. He follows her to every place she visits and one day she confesses her feelings towards him for which he says he won't be able to share the same feelings for her.
Manjima Mohan advises him to shed the rowdy life and live a simple peaceful life. In due course of time, he begins to accept he words as well as her. When news reaches Manjima's home that the two are in a relationship, they denounce them coming together and Vijay Murugan advises him to leave her for good. However, Vijay Murugan doesn't want to break his promise to Manjma and stands strong. Taking it as an act of disrespect, Vijay Murugan decides to kill Vikram Prabhu. In the midst of this, a man from Arul Doss's camp is killed and all fingers point towards Vkram Prabhu as the killer. His henchmen are on the lookout to kill Vikram Prabhu. The rest of the plot of Sathriyan revolves around whether Vikram Prabhu manages to come out from these problems and if he is united with Manjima Mohan.
Vikram Prabhu has essayed the role in his own style by managing to maintain a fine balance between the aggressive and calm characters. Be it the fight sequences or the romantic scenes, he has done a good job. Manjima Mohan looks homely and has delivered a noteworthy performance. Each time she appears on the screen, we feel happy. Be it her dialogue delivery or her expressions, she has the right notes. Sharath Lohitashwa has brought in his experience to yet again deliver a neat performance. Arul Doss has been choosing roles with substance off late and this time as a rowdy he knocks it out of the park.
Director S. R. Prabhakaran has made Sathriyan with Trichy as the backdrop. He's attempted to make a film that tells an love tale with enough action. Any person who resorts to violence will go down in a violent manner is what the film tells. Ruling the town with violence is a thought that is both wrong and unlawlful. There is a life beyond violence and a peaceful happy life it can be is what the film tries to tell. The dialogues spoken by the rowdies are a special highlight throughout. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music is a major plus and his background score during the fight sequences are top notch with the "Paarai mel thooral pola" song is the best of the lot in the album. Sivakumar Vijayan's cinematography skills come to the fore and he has shown Trichy in an exceptional manner.
In short, Sathriyan is good.
