Atharvaa is named after the popular yesteryear Tamil thespian Gemini Ganesan as his father T. Siva is a hardcore fan of the actor. Meanwhile, Atharvaa is engaged to Aishwarya Rajesh and is headed to Madurai to give his wedding invitation to Regina Cassandra. Upon reaching Regina's house in Madurai, he finds nobody living there and the entire house remaining unoccupied.
In the midst of this, Soori is living above Regina's home and it is revealed that he is in fact in hiding from the people as he hasn't returned the money he had borrowed from them. As Atharvaa comes there, Soori decides to run few more days using him and takes him into Regina's home. Soori then inquires Atharvaa his relationship with Regina and he says she was his former lover. As they keep talking, Atharvaa reveals his other lovers in the past and this irks Soori on a whole new level.
The rest of the plot of Gemini Ganesanum Suruliraajanum revolves around what happened to Atharvaa's past lovers Regina Cassandra, Aaditi Pohankar and Pranitha Subhash and, how their relationships turned sour.
Atharvaa appears as his charming self and looks apt each time he is seen paired with each heroine. Be it in the romantic scenes or the comedy sequences with Soori, he has played his part well. This is the first time he has taken on a full-length comedy role and has done a praiseworthy job. Regina Cassandra appearing as a Tamil girl has done an exceptional job with her role. Be it her dialogues or expressions, she nails it. Although Pranitha Subhash appears only for a short duration, she has left a good impression. While Atharvaa's scenes with Aaditi Pohankar are highly enjoyable, Soori's rises to top form with his comedy once again. In addition, Motta Rajendran, Mayilsamy and T. Siva have done their in a neat manner.
Despite the film carrying the name of classic actor Gemini Ganesan, Atharvaa's actions in the film make audiences wonder if the choice of the title is befitting at all. However, Odam Ilavarasu's racy screenplay along with a tight runtime ensures the film shot exceptionally well is a fun watch. Although the first half progresses in a gradual manner, the pace picks up in the second half and it is a laugh riot from that point. D. Imman's songs are enjoyable and he hits top forms in the background score department. Sri Saravanan's cinematography's skills come to the fore and he has shown the film in a colorful and vibrant manner.
In short, Gemini Ganeshanum Suruli Rajanum is an entertaining watch.
