Vivek tells Adhi that he has one year to make his mark in independent music and if he succeeds, he can move ahead or else he will have to take up higher studies. Composer Hiphop Tamizha Adhi makes his debut as an actor, director, dialogue writer, songwriter with Meesaya Murukku along with scoring the music for the film and has performed in all the departments exceptionally. His prowess in music is well known and this time he scores high marks in the acting department too. As it has been said that the film is loosely based on his own life, he has owned the role. Not taking his role as the film's director too overboard, Adhi has given adequate scope for all the characters in the film with his screenplay. Vivek's character as the Tamil-loving father is a major strength to the proceedings of the film and he has performed it exceptionally. He has some of the best dialogues in the film and has delivered them exceptionally. Despite making her acting debut, Aathmika has performed her role as an experienced artiste and nails her role. Her scenes with Adhi are highly enjoyable and she is a talent to watch out for. In addition, Ananthram, Vignesh, Gopi Aravind, Anbu, Tuniya Sudhakar among other YouTube personalities have played their roles in a decent manner.
Adhi shows no signs of being an inexperienced director and has shot to the top right in his directorial debut. His screenplay is also on point as he has understood the pulse of the youth very well. He has chosen his cast wisely and has written sharp dialogues as well. He emphasizes his admiration for poet Bharathiyar with his dialogues and lyrics throughout the narrative.
Hiphop Tamizha Adhi's songs are highly enjoyable, but he hits the high note with his background score. His compositions that were featured in his independent albums are also featured here and there in the film. Some of the songs seem to have a personal connection to Adhi's personal life and that is most noticeable in the "Vaadi Pulla Vaadi" song. U. K. Senthil Kumar and Kiruthi Vasan have handled the cinematography and their skills come to the fore as the entire film is bursting with colors. Fenny OIiver has done exceptionally well with his cuts in the editing department as well.
In short, Meesaya Murukku deserves a repeat viewing.
